Our current cancer appeals and projects have been introduced to help the public access relevant cancer information and better recognise the signs of cancer. We are also working with local partners to deliver targeted physical, emotional and wellbeing services to cancer patients.
Previous cancer appeals began to bring a Cobalt Unit to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and reduce travel for patients who were travelling to Birmingham. We have gone on to fund new pieces of specialist equipment and technology for patients to manage their treatment and access new facilities.
Over the course of our long history, we have run several high-profile, successful cancer appeals to enhance care and treatment for cancer patients at the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre, based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Our founders Bernard Lingen and Frank Davies were pivotal to bringing a dedicated facility to the county in 1979.
We have gone on to fund new technology and equipment, paid for additional clinical staff, and created more space for patients, to ensure our community has access to the best cancer services available.
