Rebecca’s Story
Thinking she had a chest infection, Rebecca was admitted to A&E in May 2016 and a just few hours later she was diagnosed with bowel cancer. She is now undergoing palliative chemotherapy while maintaining her busy, happy family life.
Joy’s Story
When Joy found a lump in her neck, she was told it was a cancer that had spread from the back of her tongue. In our first video patient story, Joy told us about her treatment and how important it was for her to be treated locally.
Alun’s Story
Alun, from Newtown and has two grown up children. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2018, which had spread to his hip bone, a course of chemotherapy followed.

Alan lives in Shifnal with his wife Elsa. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February 2017.
Tom and Lisa’s Story
Tom, a secondary school PE teacher, was diagnosed with cancer in his salivary glands in February 2017. He lives with his wife Lisa and their three children in Pontesbury. Tom and Lisa spoke to us together, to talk about Tom’s treatment and how they managed as a family through a challenging time.
Clare’s Story
Clare lives in Shrewsbury with her husband. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, and she has recently celebrated being cancer-free for five years.
Hannah’s Story
Hannah was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, when she was 38. She was treated and had a number of years of good health. However, in 2016, she was told that the cancer was metastatic and had spread into her lungs and liver. Her treatment is ongoing.
