Join our LiveLife Health Engagement Team!

As many of you will know, we have been branching out into cancer awareness and health engagement work for some time. We are very pleased to announce that we are working in partnership with NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group, and The Qube in Oswestry to deliver and exciting project in 2022!

The Core20Plus project is funded by the NHS, and aims to tackle health inequalities across the UK. We are working on part of this project that is focussed on working with volunteers in communities across our region to improve the uptake of cancer screening, with a view to catching more cancers early and improving outcomes for those people. Lingen Davies will be delivering this work in Telford & Wrekin, with Qube picking up the work in Shropshire.

As part of this project, we are appointing Cancer Champion Coordinators to cover the two parts of our region; we have appointed to the Shropshire role, but are still seeking a candidate to work on this exciting project in Telford.

Are you personable, approachable with excellent communication skills? Are you motivated to increasing cancer screening uptake and to raising awareness to improve early cancer diagnosis rates in communities where this is low?

We are looking for:

A Telford Cancer Champions Project Officer (0.6 wte, 22.5 hours employed by Lingen Davies Cancer Fund)

You will be responsible for building a body of enthusiastic, engaged and trained volunteer Cancer Champions who work within their own community and other settings, targeting population groups with the highest cancer burden.

To be successful, you will need exceptional organisational skills and have the initiative to manage your workload.

We welcome applications from people with lived experience and those from minority communities.

These roles are funded by the Shropshire and Telford CCG to deliver their CORE20 Plus Community Connectors NHS-funded project. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract in the first instance, with the possibility of extension depending on funding and outcomes.
