Hard work and dedication of specialist nurses celebrated

Shropshire business leaders have helped us thank hard working nurses for their ongoing dedication.

The project to recognise the efforts of committed Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) was launched by The Personalised Care Team for Cancer Services at Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital Trust. Lingen Davies Cancer Fund was asked to provide a gift to more than 90 CNSs working across the Trust and Oswestry-based fire safety specialists Aico, long-term supporters of the charity, were only too happy to help.

To mark National Cancer CNS Day last week the team at Lingen Davies gave out terracotta pots brimming with seasonal flowers, supplied by Dobbies Garden Centre.

Leah Morgan, Personalised Care and Cancer Improvement Facilitator at Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital Trust, said: “We’re delighted to be able to thank our fabulous team of CNSs in this way. Their dedication to improving patient outcomes and the experiences of our patients and their families shines through.

“National Cancer CNS Day is an important way to raise awareness of this role and we hope to inspire others to consider a career as a cancer CNS,” she added.

Jane Pritchard from Aico said the organisation was only too pleased to fund the gifts for CNSs in recognition of their commitment to patients.

“The work of the CNSs to support those impacted by cancer is truly inspiring. It’s important and really lovely to be able to recognise them in this way.

“We’ve been working with Lingen Davies Cancer Fund since 2021 and we’re proud to continue our support for this vital local charity.”
